Walter had invited Mulder over the night before the full moon to discuss strategy. Alex had cooked them a wonderful dinner and as Mulder pushed back from the table, he groaned, "Sir, how to you stay thin or does he not feed you this well often?"
Alex ducked his head at the compliment to his cooking as Walter smiled at Mulder. "That would be giving too much away, Mulder. Actually, we burn off a lot of calories on the night of the full moon so we've both learned to eat well the night before."
"The two of you look pretty fantastic running in the moonlight. I wonder…I guess we may never know why you have no desire to kill."
"Mulder, it isn't in a wolf's nature to kill except for food and to protect. I think your suspect has other problems."
"Like what, Alex?"
Walter slipped into the kitchen to make coffee as Alex and Mulder started to discuss the case. He was pleased to see them getting along so well. The two of them were each brilliant in his fashion and would have made a better team than Mulder and Scully in many ways. Of course, he'd have been out hauling their nuts out of the fire too often, but it would have been worth it.
They were so intent on speculation that they barely looked up as he put the coffee in front of them. He sat back with his own and listened, interrupting at intervals with questions for clarification.
It was late when Mulder looked at his watch. "Damn, I'd better go so we can all get some rest. I'll pick up a van at lunch tomorrow and be here long before moonrise to get you."
Walter walked him to the door, locked up and then went to find Alex loading the dishwasher.
"It was nice seeing the two of you talk with no yelling or accusations."
"He's not stupid, just ignorant of some things. I think knowing that you love me has made him re-examine his views toward me. He has a lot of respect for you, Walter."
"He's learning to appreciate that the world isn't so black and white. For all his theories, he's often thought that was the case. If you've got this I'll go get the bed warmed up for you."
Alex nodded with a grin as Walter brushed his lips over the closest part of Alex's face. By the time he got to the bedroom the bed was not only warm but there was this big hard thing holding up the sheet.
Mulder picked them up early as he'd said he would. In the back of the van, they stripped down as the moon began to rise. Mulder opened the door on the side as they waited.
A big shape appeared, leaping from a window of the apartment house. Alex and Walter jumped out to confront him, while Mulder readied the tranquilizer gun as he waited. Alex and Walter tried to communicate, but all they got was a series of growls and barks that neither of them understood.
Walter understood the wolf's actions toward Alex. The one who made him wanted Alex to run with him through the night. When Walter got between them, he lashed out at Walter and they tumbled as they fought.
Mulder stepped from the van, waiting for a chance to shoot the wolf fighting with Walter. Alex tried to help, but he was afraid of injuring Walter instead of the other wolf.
"Walter, move away from him!"
Walter let go, went limp and Mulder fired the dart once his target was assured. The wolf yipped, but turned and ran. Mulder ran back to the van as Alex and Walter followed Lewis down the alley.
He made it almost a mile from his apartment building before the sedative knocked him out. Walter returned to lead Mulder to them as Alex watched over the fallen werewolf. Mulder had followed until he lost sight of them, and had then parked to wait for one of them to come back for him.
He was so intent on watching the direction they had gone, that it startled him when Walter jumped up and stuck his head in the window.
"Damn, Walter, don't sneak up on me that way. Bark or something next time."
Walter bumped his nose against Mulder's shoulder in apology, then dropped back down and ran a little ahead of the van to indicate the way. It didn't take long to get back to the side street where Alex was standing over Lewis.
They watched as Mulder grunted getting the unconscious animal into the back of the van. There wasn't much they could do to help in wolf form, but they did walk on either side with their heads under the parts hanging over Mulder's arms. Once he was in they jumped into the van, Walter in the front with Mulder and Alex sitting next to Lewis in the back.
Earlier, they had set up a camera and a large cage in the basement of the house. They had put a lock on it to prevent him from letting himself out once he changed. Once Mulder was settled in the chair near the cage, Walter barked at Alex and the two left him there. It was still early and they wanted to run in the moonlight. Mulder got comfortable as he waited; the camera was set up to film for nine hours.
Walter and Alex ran through the moonlight, pursuer and pursued, finally reaching the clearing in the park. It had become their favorite place to finish their run, one of their favorite places to make love.
The night of the full moon was always intense for them, whether they started out having sex in human form and transformed or if they waited until after the change. Walter hadn't been able to decide which he liked better. His hips now sported an assortment of scars from Alex's claws digging in as he changed.
When they had calmed from the run, Walter crouched, while whining at Alex. In wolf speak he was telling Alex he was ready for sex. As Alex rose and padded toward him Walter twisted his tail to the side to give Alex plenty of room to enter him.
Alex loved the feel of Walter's bushy tail rubbing against his stomach as he pressed into his lover's heat. Sex between them had always held a magic of its own, which had increased with the change in their lives.
With his front paws on either side of Walter's long body, he used his powerful hindquarters to drive in hard. Walter let out a low growl as Alex bottomed out in him. Digging his claws into the dirt, Walter pushed back as much as he could while lying flat on his stomach.
Alex had commented on his tail once and since that time Walter made sure to move it between them, almost caressing Alex with it. Alex nipped at his ear and he knew his lover was getting close. The thrusts became less uniform as Alex approached his climax.
Walter gave the night a big goofy wolf grin as his lover arched his neck and bayed at the moon as he flooded Walter's insides. Alex covered Walter's back and panted softly into his ear for a couple of minutes.
When Alex rose up, he immediately nudged his cold nose against Walter's heavy balls. Walter yipped and rolled partly onto his side. Alex's teeth nibbled delicately at the flesh between Walter's sac and his dick, before his tongue slipped out to curl around the area that needed attention.
Walter was close to climaxing; it didn't take long for him to shoot. Alex carefully cleaned up every drop. Then he cuddled next to Walter, waiting for him to calm. They walked home slowly, brushing against each other often.
At home, Walter checked on Mulder as Alex headed for their room.
"Have a good run? Our guest twitched when Alex howled, but other than that he hasn't moved."
Walter walked slowly around the cage inspecting the other wolf; he took several deep breaths and catalogued the information to discuss with Alex and Mulder in the morning. Walking over to Mulder he rubbed his head against a knee and gave a short bark.
"I'll see you both in the morning."
In their bedroom, Alex was waiting. As Walter curled up next to him, Alex managed to pull the sheet over the lower parts of their bodies. Walter gave him a lick, before Alex settled his head on Walter's body, sleep soon overtaking them.
